Advertisement Research
Each of the music advertisements below are examples of what we plan to create as a group for our own band. The Jessie J and Wretch 32 adverts are typical modern day pop/rap adverts, you can tell this by the fact that the camera is focusing on the artist and their appearance. These examples are very useful to look at as it gives us an idea of what we need to include in our own adverts such as logos, websites, album name, track name, dates as well as having the artist name in a big bold clear font. The older advertisements focus mostly on the name of the band rather than the appearance such as the Vaccines having a cat and a pair of glasses on their advert as they are well known. Nickelback and The Red Hot Chili Peppers are advertised as if they are very well known, they have dates and large font explaining how good the band is and that tickets to see them play are available at a good price. Another piece of information that is displayed on the examples is the people who are going to be featured at the concert on within a song by the artist.

Digipack Examples of Similar Ideas

Font Research
After researching the concept for our Digipack CD artwork I felt it was
just as important to start thinking about the types of fonts that would
should use. Most Rock Digipacks feature bold texts that gain the audiences attention and this is something we need to consider when planning our Digipack. We also want our font to look
appealing to audiences as well as representing some of the key conventions
within the Rock genre. We went onto www.dafont.com and came up with a list of
fonts that we could potentially use. As a group we decided to chose the a named 'Plane-crash' which is the font at the bottom of the potential fonts, we decided to use this font as we believed it represented the rock genre the most due to the scratching effect as well as it being big, bold and clear.
Digipack Research
We have planned to meet up with the band on the 30th Nov to take the photos for our digi-pack, including the front and back covers and the inlay. We decided that we would like to take photos displaying the entire band and the girl. We have been discussing ideas and we have decided we have a few options of what we could do, one idea is to have the girl topless facing the band and take the photo from behind the girl to create sex appeal as we aren't actually showing anything. However, the having the girl in that position teases the audience and it also gives the stereotypical impression of rock band as it implies that they are getting girls to do whatever they want for them. Another idea that we have discussed is to have the band stood on a long stretch of road and their bodies would create a shadow on the road, with the idea of their bodies casting the logo of the band in shadow form. The pictures below display our perfect scenery that we would need to use to create our digipack aswell as an example of what we plan to do with our shadow of the band however with our bands logo.

Editing Day
Today was our editing day that was designated to us by our teacher meaning that we had the whole day off
timetable with an aim of finishing the editing for our video. We hoped that we could at least have a
rough cut finished by the end of the day. We succeded in putting together a
rough cut and feel that the editing day was hugely beneficial,
however, wedont not believe within our group that the video is finished and
believe we still need to keep working on it to ensure that it looks as professional as possible.

Narrative Update
Our original narrative we had in place was disliked by a
large amount of our target audience after we asked them to
comment on our current progress. We decided we will now create a narrative around the idea of a "behind the
scenes/setting up"this is seen in a many Rock videos such as, Bon Jovi Livin' On A Prayer and Def Leppard Pour Some Sugar On Me. We have a lots of left over footage from MTV that as a group we feel will work when creating our new narrative. We believe that by doing this we will be able to
appeal to our audience more our
original idea and gain more positive feedback.

It is important to know how we are going to get to MTV as to ensure we are not late and do not disrupt our schedule or shorten our filming process.

After contacting Phil Goulden (my cousin) through Facebook we were
able to set up a meeting with him and MTV to pitch our music video
proposal to them. We hoped that we could potentially use their studio
as our location and their equipment to film our video. Here is a copy of
our proposal:
Our meeting was a successful, as a result we gained permission to use MTV's studio in Camden. We will be filming on October 23rd and have also been given permission to set up the day before. We plan to contact the band to let them know the situation and plan accordingly. Due to this opportunity we believe it will give us a greater chance of creating a more professional video.
We travelled down to London Liverpool Street on the train and then made
our way to Camden Town station via the tube arriving around 1:30pm with
our meeting at 2. We then had a small tour and were shown the studio
where we were able to take some photo's for planning purposes. I also
took my iPad with me as I had a copy of all our notes and questions to
ask. This was also useful when writing down information given to us by
MTV themselves.

Meeting 2
Today we once again met up with the band, Raided By Waves with the
addition of Lucy just to go over the finalised details and plans for the
set up day and the filming day at MTV next week. We were able to
discuss shot lists and finalised concept for the video, confirm costume
and arrange travel. As a group we felt this short meeting was extremely
useful as it now means that everyone is aware of what is going to be
taking place when it comes to filming, James has also be able to contact
a make-up artist who will be helping out on the day of filming. This is
useful as it betters our chances of creating an even more professional
video.
Meeting 1
Today wet up with James and Charlie from Raided By Waves to talk to them
and in form them of our current ideas relating to the music video for
Secret. This was also a good opportunity to introduce each other to one
another so that when it comes to filming we aren't complete strangers
and will be able to work effectively together as a result. As a group we
feel the meeting went well and and we look forward to continuing our
research and planning for the video and will arrange to meet up with the
band again once our decisions for the video have been finalised.
